Essex MC, activist, poet and actor Sonny Green releases punk infused rap banger ‘Grenade’ produced by Pearse Macintyre (former frontman of Rogues). Hip-Hop Magazine have the exclusive première of the music video.
Green’s playful self-awareness, wit and punk energy are constant throughout ‘Grenade’. He states the track is ‘about the frustrations of the best lyricist in the world being overlooked by mediocrity and the self destructiveness of the modern man. Also highlighting no matter how grown up you are there’s still a child in there somewhere.’
Sonny started as a Grime MC around 2010 releasing freestyles on 140tv and SBTV, then added poetry to his skillset. He now runs Trouble Tongues, a spoken word night based in Dalston, East London. He also regularly tours with Asian Dub Foundation as an MC for their Sound System playing hundreds of dates across Europe with them.
His no-holds-barred delivery and unique sound has led to playlisting at 1Xtra, slots at festivals including Reading and Leeds and support slots for Fat Boy Slim and Pete Doherty, amongst others.
One to watch. We expect big things for Sonny’s future.
