Angel’s wings

I went to heaven expecting

God to let me in.

Descended into the rabbit hole

of the abyss, instead. Gripped

by the shadows of demonic

self – hatred. Not pretty enough.

Not talkative enough. Weird. Freak.

Ugly was my nickname. I

kept falling down into the

abyss. Alone in this room.

Loneliness and I have

been best friends for a

long time.  My battles were

fought in silence.

No one knew the sadness

in my eyes. They saw

my smile. I became a

Mona Lisa painting.

I had my shield.

Became void and numb.

Became a zombie.

Lost in a world of books

and make beliefs.

Tenth feet under the grave

was supposed to be me.

I heard an angel whisper

“Invincible, powerful, strong, boss

ass queen”.

I grew an angel’s wings and flew out

of the abyss.
