Award-winning storyteller and musician Sophia Thakur, accompanied by her 8 piece band bring the spirit of poetry, afrobeats and soul to the Jazz Café to celebrate the global release of her debut collection and latest single KUMASI.

Having toured the world working with musicians such as Jacob Banks and Sura Sosso, Sophia is known to combine spoken word poetry with music in a truly unique and captivating way, wowing unlikely audiences ranging from Glastonbury to the TEDx stage. Her gentle wisdom on topics such as love, art, race and politics has led her to be labelled the voice of a generation by Viacom and BET International.

This year she has toured Ghana, worked closely with the London Symphony Orchestra and released a collection of poems and stories that she will be bringing to life on stage with some very special guests.

Her global tour will commence in January, taking her across the USA and Australia, pushing what MTV are calling ‘the new wave of spoken word poetry’.

Sophia’s book ‘Somebody Give This Heart A Pen’ will be available to buy and and sign.
