ENGLAND & SCOTLAND’S TOP LYRICISTS SET TO BATTLE FOR PLACE AT END OF THE WEAK WORLD FINALS

Eng­land and Scot­land’s finest lyr­i­cists will go head-to-head at BRIX Lon­don on 16 August, com­pet­ing for the oppor­tun­ity to rep­res­ent both nations at the pres­ti­gi­ous End Of The Weak (EOW) World Finals in Mon­tréal, Canada.

For more than 25 years, End Of The Weak has been one of the world’s most respec­ted Hip Hop move­ments, cham­pi­on­ing authen­t­ic emcee­ing and uncov­er­ing the next gen­er­a­tion of lyr­ic­al tal­ent. Foun­ded in New York City in 2000, the organ­isa­tion has grown into a glob­al plat­form span­ning more than 20 coun­tries across five con­tin­ents, with nation­al cham­pi­ons earn­ing the chance to com­pete annu­ally at the End Of The Weak World Finals.

Since launch­ing in the UK in 2006 under the lead­er­ship of legendary DJ Snuff, End Of The Weak has become a corner­stone of Brit­ish Hip Hop cul­ture. The com­pet­i­tion has provided a plat­form for emer­ging artists while cel­eb­rat­ing lyr­i­cism, cre­ativ­ity and live per­form­ance, help­ing to launch the careers of artists includ­ing Kae Tem­pest, Lowkey, Immor­tal Tech­nique and Gor­illa Nems. Over the years, the move­ment has also received sup­port from respec­ted fig­ures includ­ing Estelle, Akala, Klash­nekoff, Lupe Fiasco, DMC of RUN DMC and Home­boy Sandman.

This year’s Nation­al Final fol­lows months of region­al qual­i­fy­ing heats across Eng­land and Scot­land, bring­ing togeth­er some of the coun­try’s most prom­ising MCs. Con­firmed final­ists include Mack­en­zie (Glas­gow), Mello (Lon­don) and Jonny Steele (Bris­tol), with the final qual­i­fy­ing spot to be decided fol­low­ing Brighton’s region­al heat on 6 August.

The even­tu­al cham­pi­on will be crowned the 2026 End Of The Weak Nation­al Cham­pi­on before trav­el­ling to Mon­tréal to com­pete against élite MCs from around the world.

Unlike tra­di­tion­al rap battles, the End Of The Weak MC Chal­lenge is designed to test every aspect of an artist’s abil­ity. Com­pet­it­ors face five demand­ing rounds: Writ­ten, Acapella, Free­style Grab Bag, DJ vs MC and Cypher. Per­form­ances are judged on lyr­i­cism, ori­gin­al­ity, cre­ativ­ity, con­tent, stage pres­ence and crowd con­nec­tion, mak­ing it one of the most com­pre­hens­ive tests of MC skills any­where in the world.

This year’s judging pan­el fea­tures some of the UK’s most respec­ted voices in Hip Hop, includ­ing Dekay, a two-time End Of The Weak UK Cham­pi­on who fin­ished run­ner-up at the 2023 End Of The Weak World Cham­pi­on­ship in New York, along­side Alain “Fusion” Clapham, founder and cur­at­or of the influ­en­tial Super­Or­gan­ic plat­form. Addi­tion­al guest judges from across the UK’s Hip Hop com­munity will also be announced.

Mas Law, CEO and Cre­at­ive Dir­ect­or of End Of The Weak Eng­land, believes the com­pet­i­tion offers artists a genu­ine oppor­tun­ity to elev­ate their careers.

Artist­ic Dir­ect­or Apex Zero says the com­pet­i­tion remains one of the few spaces where skill alone determ­ines the outcome.

“The EOW MC Chal­lenge is the ulti­mate test of our craft. Mar­ket­ing, fin­an­cial back­ing, man­age­ment, bots—even bring­ing all your friends and fam­ily can­’t help you win. It’s all about your skills.”

The 2026 Nation­al Final prom­ises an even­ing of élite lyr­i­cism, free­style mas­tery and live per­form­ance as the coun­try’s best emer­ging MCs com­pete for the oppor­tun­ity to per­form on the inter­na­tion­al stage and join a world­wide net­work ded­ic­ated to advan­cing Hip Hop culture.

The win­ner will receive flights and accom­mod­a­tion to Mon­tréal, Canada, where they will rep­res­ent Eng­land and Scot­land at the End Of The Weak World Finals.
