‘Shine’ is OUT NOW Listen Here
A new voice is rising from the heart of Central Louisiana. Trell Savone, the 26-year-old melodic storyteller signed to 5th Parish Entertainment, is making his debut with “Shine,” a powerful anthem of resilience featuring his brother and creative partner Max.Eo. Together, the duo forms Da Boondock Rejectz, blending vulnerability, confidence, and lived experience into a sound that speaks from the soul.
With his debut single dropping June 31, and an album on the way, I Am Hip Hop Magazine caught up with Trell Savone to talk family, legacy, visuals, and what it means to rise from a small town with something real to say.
Let’s start at the beginning…how did growing up in Bunkie, Louisiana, shape the way you approach music today?
Being from a small, rural area like Bunkie, everyone seems to be in the same box. A lot of people put out the same kind of image—and that’s not me. I want to create music people can feel, something they can relate to emotionally or through their own past experiences. I want my music to be felt. That’s what sets me apart.
Your debut single “Shine” is dropping soon. What does this track represent for you personally and artistically?
Shine is about the everyday obstacles and struggles life throws at us—when life starts “lifing,” as they say, lol. It’s about doing everything to the fullest, no matter what, and believing in yourself even when no one else does. Personally, it’s a reminder to keep going. Artistically, it sets the tone for what I stand for.
You collaborated with your brother Max.Eo on this track. What’s the creative process like when you work together as siblings and as Da Boondock Rejectz?
Working with Max.Eo is always easy. We’re blood brothers—same mother and father—so we share a lot of the same experiences. At the same time, we have different musical approaches and life perspectives, which brings great dynamics to a track. There’s a natural chemistry there that just works.
The title of your upcoming album, Energy + Vibes = Emotions, is unique. Can you break down the meaning behind that equation and how it defines your sound?
It’s really about making a connection. Energy is the emotion or feeling that comes from each track. Vibes are the moods the songs carry you through. And Emotions are what you experience when the two come together. That formula defines my sound—raw, relatable, and real.
With “Shine” being the first release under 5th Parish Entertainment, do you feel any pressure or pride in leading the charge for the label?
Honestly, both. There’s definitely pressure—this is my first single and also the label’s first release—so I want to lead with a banger. But there’s also pride in representing where we’re from and showing people what 5th Parish Entertainment is all about.
Your family has deep musical roots—from The Bush Band to your father’s rap legacy. How does that legacy influence your music today?
I’ve only heard stories about The Bush Band—that was a little before my time, lol—but it’s inspiring. Watching my dad build his career from the studio to the stage really gave me a front-row seat to what this life takes. My brother and I definitely have some big shoes to fill.
You describe your music as a blend of vulnerability and confidence. How do you balance those two energies when you write and perform?
It’s a must to have both. But it’s not easy. I’m naturally laid-back and reserved, so letting people into my personal thoughts and feelings is tough. Still, being vulnerable and confident at the same time is part of the growth. It’s what connects people to the music.
The single artwork for “Shine” reflects a vibrant, bold energy. How involved were you in crafting the visual aesthetic, and how does it reflect your personality?
I was 100% involved in the process. The artwork reflects the part of me that’s no longer comfortable with struggle—it’s the side that wants to shine. That bold energy you see? That’s the hunger and confidence I’m bringing to the table now.
As a rising voice from Central Louisiana, what message do you hope to send to other young artists coming from small towns with big dreams?
No matter where you’re from or what you’re going through, making it is never out of reach. Stay true to yourself. Don’t be afraid to be different. That’s your power.
What can fans expect from you in the next few months, both musically and beyond the mic?
First up is the video for Shine. Then we’re dropping the next single, followed by my debut album Energy + Vibes = Emotions. After that, Max.Eo’s debut project is coming. Then finally, our duo project as Da Boondock Rejectz. All through 5th Parish Entertainment. So yeah—we’re working.
