Blue Lab Beats are a Grammy Award winning Jazz Fusion duo from the UK who I’ve closely watched evolve over the last few years.
Made up of NKOK & David Mrakpor the producer and multi instrumentalist have consistently been dropping some incredible music lately.
Booked to headline the Hennessy stage at this year’s We Outhere Festival. The duo Showcased some choice cuts from their solid catalogue along with highlights from their latest release Motherland Journey (Discussed at length here )
With NKOK on the drum machine and David switching between Guitar & keys.
The duo create a beautiful Jazz / Neo Soul laced soundscape inviting additional musicians on drums and trumpet who richly complemented and expanded the sound.
Special guests included Ragz Original, Cherise & Louis VI all brought a dynamic energy to their hour long set.
Louis VI especially delivering a top tier rap performance at various intervals throughout the set keeping the crowd engaged from start to finish.
Highlights for me included NKOK’s phenomenal finger drumming solo and the way he commanded the crowd throughout. Blue Lab Beats growth over the years has been fantastic and I look forward to seeing where they go next.
This was a memorable show that leave you musically for filled yet hungry for more.
