In this mod­ern world, music with a mes­sage is a must! And The Future by Miss Baby Sol and Speech Debelle is a beau­ti­fully music­al state­ment against the status quo of con­fu­sion and cor­rup­tion that is threat­en­ing the pro­spects of future generations.
Hip hop, rock and soul inspir­a­tions over­flow from the track, inher­ently rep­res­ent­at­ive of the eclect­ic voices all tak­ing part in the protest for free­dom; the music’s dark and dra­mat­ic atmo­sphere provides a per­fect back­drop for Miss Baby Sol’s endur­ingly optim­ist­ic tone yet her lyr­ics remind us that hope­ful energy alone will not cata­lyse the neces­sary revolu­tion our gen­er­a­tion must par­ti­cip­ate in. And Speech Debelle’s poet­ic rap elev­ates the track, relat­ing to our day to day routines whilst main­tain­ing pro­gress­ive expres­sion as a priority.
