Last Thursday 23rd May Brixton Jamm played host to AP2P aka M.1 from Dead Prez and Bonnot from Assalti Frontali supporting this revolutionary hip hop group were Shadia Mansour, Caxton Press, Aktarv8r of Asian Dub Foundation, DJ Snuff among many more talented hip hop artists.
As DJ Snuff started to lay down the heavy beats and the first few acts were finishing off Caxton Press got the crowd pumping with a mixture of tracks from their first album Shame the Devil and new tracks from their forth coming album. Truly one of the best hip hop groups in the game at the moment. Then it was time for the main act AP2P to blow the crowd away. M.1 put his heart into each performance and when Shadia Mansour joined him on stage to performed El Kofeyye 3Arabeyye you could hear the audience voices raising to the roof. Then AP2P performed a mixture of tracks from their first album All power to the people and their forthcoming album. The energy in the crowed was hyped up and M.1 was on fire. Of course there was a performance of It’s bigger than hip hop, which had everyone shouting “hip hop, hip hop”.
With acts from England, USA and Italy it was truly an awesome global night of hip hop. For those of you that love hip hop with a message make sure download AP2P’s album All Power to the people and keep an eye out for both Caxton Press and AP2P’s second albums coming soon.
