JimiDaKilla​’s long-awaited debut EP, Cognac Arcade, has finally touched down with the release of the two part video ‘This One’s For / Cognac Arcade’. This intric­ately themed music­al jour­ney is an inter­woven tapestry packed with storytelling, humour, per­son­al­ity and hip-hop/­pop sequenced beats. ‘This One’s For / Cognac Arcade’ offers the listen­er ‘gold­fish bowl’ access into the crazy and col­our­ful world of our Derby native,

Although Cognac Arcade is Jimi’s first ‘solo flight’ he’s been per­form­ing, record­ing and releas­ing with his ‘widely respec­ted’ Derby rap col­lect­ive Loc­al Geez­ers for some time. With co-signs from the likes of SBTV’s Jamal Edwards, Grime MC Kami­kaze & Link Up TV, Loc­al Geez­ers have built up a sol­id repu­ta­tion in the UK Rap scene for qual­ity music over the past few years, releas­ing two sol­id EPs, a hand­ful of high-end music videos, hil­ari­ous video and audio pod­cast pro­grams whilst con­tinu­ously devel­op­ing and hon­ing the Loc­al Geezer’s brand pos­i­tion and strategy.

Ted Loco, who has been work­ing with Jimi since Loc­al Geez­ers formed back in 2016, has played a pivotal role in the cre­ation of the Cognac Arcade EP, engin­eer­ing, pro­du­cing and mix­ing each and every song. The two of them have been devel­op­ing their cre­at­ive chem­istry for a long time, Cognac Arcade is a labour of love, and def­in­itely stands as their best work to date.

The fea­tures on Cognac Arcade are all hand-picked and selec­tion is taken ‘very’ ser­i­ously. One of Hack­ney’s finest young tal­ents ‘Skinny Malone’ provides an ‘epic’ verse on lead single ‘Warn­ing’. L’z and Kiid KC grace the pro­ject bring­ing their own angles and music­al ‘pantone’ as Jimi throws love back to the homet­own city of Derby.

When asked to com­ment on ‘This Ones For / Cognac Arcade’, Jimi respon­ded “The end goal for myself and Ted was to push the bound­ar­ies son­ic­ally from what we had pre­vi­ously been work­ing on. Myself and fel­low Loc­al Geez­ers col­lect­ive mem­ber, Rufus Wilson then developed the concept of the video to show­case the many sides of my personality”. 

With this video, along with the 6 track EP, Cognac Arcade is look­ing to take the crown as one of the most excit­ing under­ground UK rap releases of 2020, and with this being the first offer­ing of the year from Jimi, this incred­ible young artist is def­in­itely one to watch.
