NEW MUSIC | BUGZY MALONE RELEASES THE VIDEO TO ‘CAUSE A COMMOTION’ FEATURING SKIP MARLEY

Self-pro­claimed ‘King Of The North’ Bug­zy Malone has delivered his first release of 2020, ‘Cause A Com­mo­tion’, a gritty track fea­tur­ing Skip Mar­ley.

Pro­duced by Toddla T, ‘Cause A Com­mo­tion’ is son­ic­ally a stark con­trast from the Grime sounds of Bugzy’s pre­vi­ous work. ‘Cause A Com­mo­tion’ sees Bug­zy exper­i­ment with dance­hall under­tones which is fur­ther com­ple­men­ted by the addi­tion of Skip Mar­ley, grand­son of the Reg­gae luminary Bob Mar­ley.

Pri­or to its offi­cial release, the track secured first plays with Annie Mac’s as her ‘Hot­test Record’ and BBC 1xtra as DJ Tar­get fea­tured it as his ‘Tar­get Embargo’.

The accom­pa­ny­ing video, dir­ec­ted by acclaimed Nigeri­an director/photographer Meji Alabi, who has pre­vi­ously helmed visu­als for Skep­ta, Burna Boy, Tiwa Sav­age and Gold­Link, por­trays Jamaica in an authen­t­ic man­ner. Seek­ing to high­light the country’s socio-polit­ic­al com­plex­it­ies while cel­eb­rat­ing its many cul­tur­al signatures.

 The cine­mat­ic nature of the visu­al lends itself well to Bugzy’s recent trans­ition into film where he recently starred along­side A‑List act­ors Mat­thew McConaughey and Hugh Brant in the Guy Ritch­ie-led ‘The Gentleman’.

One of the UK’s lead­ing rap­pers, Bug­zy Malone burst onto the music scene in 2015 with his debut EP ‘Walk With Me’. Released on Charlie Sloth’s inde­pend­ent label, Grimey Limey, the pro­ject reached No.8 on the UK albums chart. A sig­ni­fic­ant mile­stone for a release without major label backing.

He would soon build on these found­a­tions with the arrival of his Sil­ver-cer­ti­fied EP’s ‘Facing Time’ and ‘King Of The North’ before releas­ing his full-length debut album ‘B‑Inspired’ which peaked at No. 6 on the UK Albums Chart while gar­ner­ing crit­ic­al acclaim from The Guard­i­an and TRENCH.

With a new sound and blos­som­ing act­ing career in tow, ‘Cause A Com­mon’ marks the cul­min­a­tion  of a new phase in this dynam­ic talent’s tra­ject­ory.
