As the UK’s answer to D’angelo, the 22-year-old artist Ryan De La Cruz comes through with first state­ment to a big year ahead. The track is an ode to secur­ing the bag, as Ryan states “put your money where your mouth is and do what it takes to hustle”.

With pre­vi­ous track ‘Know About Me’ rap­idly sur­pass­ing 1M views and DJ Sem­tex describ­ing it as ‘one of the best UK rap videos of 2017’, as well as huge col­lab­or­a­tions with Ghetts and S Wavey on ‘Play­er’, Ryan has been tear­ing up the scene for a while. Draw­ing influ­ences from the likes of Michael Jack­son and Chris Brown as well as his tough East Lon­don upbring­ing, Ryan has been set­ting him­self apart from the new gen­er­a­tion of UK tal­ent by inject­ing soul­ful, RnB vibes into his fruit­ful pleth­ora of inspiration.

This new track ‘Syko’ is no excep­tion – he provides a spicy melody against a clean yet bouncy trap instru­ment­al where what he describes as ‘creepy nurs­ery bells’ give it an extra edge. Using his pas­sion for play­ing on the jux­ta­pos­i­tion of emo­tion and concept, the visu­als really high­light his undeni­able artist­ic eye that has forever been set­ting him apart from the rest.

He now comes through with first track of the year and with an array of upcom­ing shows and single drops trick­ling in through­out the year as well as a full pro­ject, this young artist is set for a huge 2019.
