NEW MUSIC | RAPPER CASSCADE DELIVERS LIVE VERSION OF ‘COMFORTABLE’

After dropping one of this year’s waviest feel good summer anthems ‘Doing Alright’ and tearing down the Mastermind x Supermalt stage at Notting Hill Carnival in August, North West London’s Casscade returns from a hiatus to show his versatility with a live version of his track ‘Comfortable’.

Best known for his flamboyant bars and lyric packed rap tracks with an RnB flavour, ‘Comfortable’ is somewhat of a surprise from Casscade as it boasts a stripped back live band performance to accompany his raw vocal delivery, which includes singing on the first verse and a venomous rap verse on the second. Shot at Resident Studios, the visuals play host to the track’s reflective motifs as Casscade takes stock after an up and down year. He explains:

“The acoustic version was something I always wanted to do but just never got around to doing. I love live renditions of songs and I thought this would probably be the perfect song to do this with. I also wanted to display my diversity.”

After fighting some fighting some demons this year, Casscade has managed to harness those feels into his art — vulnerability at it’s finest but delivered in a way fitting of a true underdog. Lyrics such as these show an artist trying to make sense of the daily grind:

“Calculated risks, you do the math, it could be damaging” — “Easy option is a nightmare but it might just help me sleep well — Cause I stay up late, plotting, Cause I can’t go back to retail”

Earlier this year Casscade held his second sold out show at Camden Assembly, before dropping his breakthrough hit ‘Doing Alright’ which was playlisted at ReprezentPulse 88 and The Beat FM. His previous singles including the party jam ‘Sexy’ have been championed by media such as HighsnobietyGRM DailyLinkup TV and SBTV as well as by DJs including Charlie SlothMelody KaneAnnie Nightingale and Target.  This year he was part of a sold out show at O2 Islington but since summer has taken some time out away from the scene.

‘Comfortable’ sets the stage for further releases in 2020 from this hungry creative — watch this space and check out the chilling performance below.
