A fresh Hip-Hop track to celebrate good ol fashion New York swag, we introduce the first true commercial release from Sun [the MC]! A collaboration with producer Moo Latte, this track draws influence from that early 90’s boom-bap vibe. We love to hear it! The song itself is one of self-realization, and activism with flow and depth of lyrical meaning. ‘My influences are from spiritual texts and leaders but I’m all about having a good time as well.’ With an adoration for Hip-Hop, Sun [the MC]‘s goal is to convey spiritual concepts, positivity and human vulnerability through his music! For fans of Jay‑Z, J. Cole and A Tribe Called Quest, Sun [the MC] adds himself to the list of ‘New York’s Finest’.

Sun [the MC], is a New York-born and based MC who combines concepts of self-realization and consciousness with upbeat vibes that flow through his lyrics and music.  Sun began writing poetry in his early years, shifting his focus to hip-hop in high school and college. Performing took a back seat but Sun never stopped writing and began recording in the 2010s over well-known tracks across hip-hop and other global genres. His friendships with DJs and producers allowed him to choose his beats and establish his presence as an independent artist, resulting in a deep catalog of music. Sun [the MC] blends wordplay with spiritual wisdom juxtaposed with living in a society that has highs and lows, from celebrating life and hip-hop bravado, to both good and bad romantic relationships, to the realities of social injustice. He encourages achievement and being the best version of ourselves through authenticity and self-discipline, while acknowledging that there is a greater depth to existence than meets the eye in this worldly dimension. His first EP, Sunrise, dropped in 2011 on SoundCloud, followed by Louis XIV — Era of the Sun (2013), Unleash the Mind (2014), and Unleash the Mind II (2015), and a number of singles in 2020. Suraj plans to re-record / remix several of these tracks for commercial release, in addition to a lot of original new music, over the coming months!
