Listen Here

Multi platinum producer, artist and writer John Harrison, better known as P*nut, has teamed up with Franz Job and Qua for his candescent new track ‘Wake Up’. Fusing elements of reggae and hip-hop, the catchy track ebbs and flows, as P*nut’s production delivers a slick helping of pulsing beats and spacey synth all topped with Franz Job and Qua’s smooth vocal performances. Based between London and Berlin, P*nut has had a tremendous impact on the music industry since the early noughties working with many musical legends. Returning with a track that unites well loved old school hip-hop sounds with a sharp contemporary edge, he continues to take the world by storm with his expert knowledge and genius production.

John Harrison and co-producer Kasper Granroth met in Berlin 2018, with Kasper joining John’s studio community. The pair have been working on music together ever since, with their collaborative expertise culminating in their striking new release ‘Wake Up’. Kasper is honoured to release ‘Wake Up’ on his independent record label Lost Favourite Records.

Discussing how the single was created, John explains: “Franz and myself started to write ‘Wake up’ two years ago, with both of us recording it together in Tobago and Berlin. Franz kept on channelling Janis Joplin’s “Lord won’t you buy me a Mercedes Benz my friends all drive Porsches I must make amends, work hard all my lifetime no help from my friends, Lord won’t you buy me a Mercedes Benz” throughout the recordings.”

Throughout his stellar career in the industry, P*nut, has worked with the likes of Dido, Faithless, James Arthur, Wiley, and Emile Sande to name only a few. In 2006 P*nut had a chance encounter to play Amy Winehouse some of his beat ideas, resulting in the two of them finding they were on common ground musically and spending a week together in the studio. Together they created the world-class ‘He can only hold her’ from her multi platinum album ‘Back to Black’, which won an award at the 50th Annual Grammy Awards.

As well as his collaborations, P*nut has impressed fans with his adroit solo material. His second solo album ‘Sweet as’ was signed to Sony/BMG, and featured a wide array of UK, American and Carribean rappers. The record received glowing reviews within the UK hip-hop world, and was supported by Tim Westwood on Radio 1.

With a wealth of success already under his belt and so much more to offer, P*nut’s credentials and ingenious talent is awe-inspiring, and his brand new single is not to be missed.
