SATURDAY 15TH DECEMBER
O2 ACADEMY BRIXTON
Brainfeeder has announced its takeover of London’s Brixton Academy on 15 December to celebrate the label’s 10th anniversary. The night, presented in collaboration with Soundcrash, is the endcap on a year which sees the imprint celebrating the legacy of its pioneering, far-out spirit via as-yet-unannounced signings, releases and memorable events. Brainfeeder’s ringleader, Flying Lotus, is due to debut a brand new iteration of his critically-acclaimed and customarily cutting-edge audiovisual experience in 3D at the Brixton event. Thundercat, the underground’s most recognizable bass-toting merry-maker, also comes to town after a sold out tour of the world twice over.
After being conceived by FlyLo – a trailblazer in his own right and perhaps the most adventurous yet on-point artist A&R head of our times – Brainfeeder has gone on to kickstart the careers of critical darlings like Thundercat and Kamasi Washington while influencing the experimental sound of an entire generation of young music-makers. As is par for the course with this crew, they’ll be inviting some very special guests yet to be announced which rep the storied past, energetic present and cosmic future of the label.
To take this lineup to the next level there will also be full live shows from some of the finest acts on the label including Ross From Friends, Lapalux, Dorian Concept and Iglooghost. Champion of the label and 6Music’s finest DJ Gilles Peterson is also on the bill for a set.
The following two tabs change content below.
