Straight Music and Academy Events are proud to announce A Life of Grime at London’s O2 Forum Kentish Town on Friday 27September 2019, a unique event to celebrate the early years of Grime music and those who brought the scene to life.

A Life of Grime will shine a nostalgic light on the generation-defining genre, featuring some of the most inspiring artists who helped Grime rise from pirate radio to chart-dominating prominence in the early 2000s and the London-centric loins of the burgeoning scene.

The foundations of Grime are well represented in So Solid Crew, who oversaw its birth from the MC-orientated UK Garage scene, as well as Grime stalwarts Jammer and Newham Generals, both pivotal figures from the beginning and a vital mouthpiece for the genre. “Grime is about togetherness, so this show is one I am looking forward to” says Jammer. “I’m ready to bring Murkle to the stage.”

Dagenham MC Devlin, whose 15-year career has seen him achieve Top Ten chart hits and Gold-selling albums while staying true to his underground roots, completes the line-up alongside North London Grime legend Chip, who broke through into the scene aged 16 with ‘Who Are You?’ – one of the genre’s most iconic tracks – and later becoming the youngest UK rapper to ever score a Top Ten single.

“Grime still has a tremendous amount of energy and has many facets now: it has evolved so those that love dubstep, garage, hip hop, R&B also like Grime, it touches all elements of all these genres now” adds A Life Of Grime Promoter, Emily Curd.

With such an amazing line-up, A Life of Grime is set to be an unmissable celebration of the music and culture of the 2002 – 2006 Grime years. Tickets are on sale on Thursday 13 June 2019 at £20.00 adv — £35.00 adv from ticketmaster.co.uk
