England and Scotland’s finest lyricists will go head-to-head at BRIX London on 16 August, competing for the opportunity to represent both nations at the prestigious End Of The Weak (EOW) World Finals in Montréal, Canada.
For more than 25 years, End Of The Weak has been one of the world’s most respected Hip Hop movements, championing authentic emceeing and uncovering the next generation of lyrical talent. Founded in New York City in 2000, the organisation has grown into a global platform spanning more than 20 countries across five continents, with national champions earning the chance to compete annually at the End Of The Weak World Finals.
Since launching in the UK in 2006 under the leadership of legendary DJ Snuff, End Of The Weak has become a cornerstone of British Hip Hop culture. The competition has provided a platform for emerging artists while celebrating lyricism, creativity and live performance, helping to launch the careers of artists including Kae Tempest, Lowkey, Immortal Technique and Gorilla Nems. Over the years, the movement has also received support from respected figures including Estelle, Akala, Klashnekoff, Lupe Fiasco, DMC of RUN DMC and Homeboy Sandman.
This year’s National Final follows months of regional qualifying heats across England and Scotland, bringing together some of the country’s most promising MCs. Confirmed finalists include Mackenzie (Glasgow), Mello (London) and Jonny Steele (Bristol), with the final qualifying spot to be decided following Brighton’s regional heat on 6 August.

The eventual champion will be crowned the 2026 End Of The Weak National Champion before travelling to Montréal to compete against élite MCs from around the world.
Unlike traditional rap battles, the End Of The Weak MC Challenge is designed to test every aspect of an artist’s ability. Competitors face five demanding rounds: Written, Acapella, Freestyle Grab Bag, DJ vs MC and Cypher. Performances are judged on lyricism, originality, creativity, content, stage presence and crowd connection, making it one of the most comprehensive tests of MC skills anywhere in the world.
This year’s judging panel features some of the UK’s most respected voices in Hip Hop, including Dekay, a two-time End Of The Weak UK Champion who finished runner-up at the 2023 End Of The Weak World Championship in New York, alongside Alain “Fusion” Clapham, founder and curator of the influential SuperOrganic platform. Additional guest judges from across the UK’s Hip Hop community will also be announced.
Mas Law, CEO and Creative Director of End Of The Weak England, believes the competition offers artists a genuine opportunity to elevate their careers.
“To represent this competition on an international level can change the dimension of your career.”
Artistic Director Apex Zero says the competition remains one of the few spaces where skill alone determines the outcome.
“The EOW MC Challenge is the ultimate test of our craft. Marketing, financial backing, management, bots—even bringing all your friends and family can’t help you win. It’s all about your skills.”
The 2026 National Final promises an evening of élite lyricism, freestyle mastery and live performance as the country’s best emerging MCs compete for the opportunity to perform on the international stage and join a worldwide network dedicated to advancing Hip Hop culture.
The winner will receive flights and accommodation to Montréal, Canada, where they will represent England and Scotland at the End Of The Weak World Finals.
