NEW MUSIC | MIRAA MAY DROPS ‘BIG WOMAN’ FEATURING STEFFLON DON

Algeri­an born, Tot­ten­ham raised, Mir­aa May, one of the fiercest, most prodi­giously tal­en­ted and highly rated artists in UK has released her new single and video ‘Big Woman’ fea­tur­ing the one and only, Stef­flon Don.

The com­bin­a­tion of these two UK queens, and pro­du­cer Eyez, deliv­ers a rap sound dif­fer­ing from Miraa’s last two singles — pop banger ‘Go Girl’ and the con­fes­sion­al R&B slow jam ‘In My Feel­ings’. All three will fea­ture on Miraa’s upcom­ing TBA album, and like the rest of the album, all are built on power­ful female energy. It’s a per­fect anthem to kick off the New Year.

The offi­cial video is dir­ec­ted by the award-win­ning Jake Nava, best known for his work with icon­ic artists such as Bey­on­cé, Kanye West, and Adele. In the video we see Mir­aa May and Stef­flon Don light­ing up black and white visu­als with an unmiss­able toe-to-toe performance.

‘Big Woman’ is the third release from Mir­aa May’s much anti­cip­ated TBA debut album, which also includes her pre­vi­ous releases ‘In My Feel­ings’ and ‘Go Girl’ fea­tur­ing RAYE. The new single also fol­lows her recent col­lab with Jordan Steph­ens on his new track ‘Big Bad Mood’.

Mir­aa May is one of the most respec­ted writers and artists in music. Since being dis­covered by Salaam Remi (Nas, Amy Wine­house, The Fugees), the hugely pro­lif­ic Mir­aa has col­lab­or­ated with a who’s who of UK tal­ent — includ­ing JME, Raye, Col3trane, WSTRN and many more. When not mak­ing her own music, she can has writ­ten for some of the hot­test names in the game includ­ing Jorja Smith’s top 10 hit ‘Be Hon­est’ and Burna Boy as well as ‘Jeal­ous’ by Mahalia and Rico Nasty. Her prowess as a writer saw her invited to an all-star writ­ing camp in Jamaica along­side Cadenza, Amine, Pro­te­je, Dre Skull, and Guilty Beatz to name a few (the ses­sions were filmed by The Face and turned into their ‘Voices of Jamaica’ doc­u­ment­ary). She also starred in the video for Little Simz’ ‘Woman’ along­side oth­er major female industry play­ers such as ZeZe Millz, Jourdan Dunn and Joy Crookes. Her con­nec­tions speak volumes about the high regard in which she’s held by her peers and con­tem­por­ar­ies – a vital voice, artist and personality.

Last year, Mir­aa per­formed live at vari­ous fest­ivals from TRNS­MT, Tokyo World, Straw­ber­ries and Creem, Sound City and the Super Bock Fest­iv­al in Lis­bon. She also had the life chan­ging exper­i­ence of becom­ing a first-time mum at the begin­ning of the pan­dem­ic. And he began work­ing on what would become her debut album, work­ing almost entirely with a female team.

Mir­aa May is an unstop­pable force who con­tin­ues to share with the world her undeni­able tal­ents, with 2022 shap­ing up as her most excit­ing yet.
