A pion­eer of ‘Grock’, Kwazi Cort is releas­ing his new single ‘Please Don’t Boast ft LD (67)’, a col­lab­or­a­tion with fel­low Lon­don Drill artist LD (67). Kwazi Cort set out to make a track that intro­duced Grock into the urb­an sphere. With its mem­or­able and dis­tinct­ive energy and aes­thet­ic, ‘Please Don’t Boast ft LD (67)’ cer­tainly achieves this. Writ­ten and recor­ded in Lon­don, ‘Please Don’t Boast ft LD (67)’ merges rock with grime and takes influ­ence from hip hop and drill.

Kwazi Cort’s vivid account of his tumul­tu­ous life is immersed in his auto­bi­o­graph­ic­al music. The loss of a child­hood friend when he was young set Kwazi Cort on a more pos­it­ive path, want­ing his music to be a viable way to express his story. Kwazi Cort is a pion­eer of the Grock genre which fuses mod­ern grime flows, rock gui­tar, funkadel­ic troubled rambles and the fierce focus of drill’s new school. Heav­ily influ­enced by the Pan-Afric­an move­ment, Kwazi Cort draws on a wealth of influ­ences to cre­ate his pro­gress­ive sound that is draw­ing more and more people to listen to him.
