New Music: Cyclonious (@Cyclonious) ‘The Revival’

Cyc­lo­ni­ous is end­ing 2017 and open­ing 2018 in splen­did fash­ion with his prodi­gious album ‘The Revival.

This album was meant to be released in 2014 but was held back due to Cyc­lo­ni­ous men­tion­ing that the music and con­cepts was­nt right for the vis­ion that he fore saw for this pro­ject. Some times it is best to hold back to make sure that you get the deliv­ery right. This album cer­tainly does arouse and restore the love and interest of good hip hop music.

The intro and album titled song ‘The Reviv­al’ sets the tone and struc­ture of what is to be felt and heard along this majest­ic jour­ney. com­mand­ing drum pat­terns. witty word play and a power­ful chor­us makes it a com­pel­ling force in pulling the listen­er inside. ‘The Reviv­al con­sists of 16 tracks which is a healthy amount. Each song con­sists of great con­cepts and artistry. Songs like ‘The Maafa’ and ‘Inva­sion Day’ brings aware­ness and a social out look on the world which Cyc­lo­ni­ous does effort­lessly but grace­fully. Feel good songs like ‘Get Some’ and ‘Haven’ are sure to get the head nod­ding and feet tap­ping. The story approach is some­thing we don’t often get any more inside of hip hop as the vast major­ity of artists like to stay in a com­fort­able pos­i­tion with­in being cre­at­ive. Cyc­lo­ni­ous on the oth­er hand wants to take his audi­ence on a dif­fer­ent route through songs like ‘Gar­vey’ but still be entertained.

This is an elev­ated spear­head for those already aware of this move­ment but also a mean­ing­ful yet enter­tain­ing intro­duc­tion to all new comers. This album should not be slept on or over looked. May the per­cep­tion be unapologetic.
