Shame­less Plug con­tin­ues full steam with yet anoth­er EP release titled ‘JOHAN­NES­BORO.’ The NY lyr­ic­al vet enlists pro­du­cer Spha­beats from Africa for the 4‑track col­lab­or­at­ive project.

The big-screen sound­scapes of “Imper­fect World” set the EP off with clas­sic storytelling and word­play from Plug. He touches on a life of ‘flip­pin’ just to real­ize the streets show no love in return. Although he’s not a double drib­bler when it comes to the bars, he does reflect on past self-inflic­ted mistakes.

“Say It Back” is a tale, far too famil­i­ar, of a tumul­tu­ous love from a man’s per­spect­ive. Through a woman’s BS, lack of loy­alty, fake hugs, and even inter­mit­tent scuffles; he still loves her. Plug reminds us that love has four let­ters just like many curse words we spew. Will it be your gift or curse?

The impec­cable sounds of horns in “Heavy Crowns” drives Plug’s lyr­ic­al flow through Brooklyn’s core. “Heavy is the head that wears the crown,” Plug describes the changes Brook­lyn has and con­tin­ues to bare, will­ingly and unwillingly.

“The Jour­ney” con­cludes the EP with impress­ive lyr­i­cism detail­ing Plug’s jour­ney through life as a man. The blends of piano keys, bass, and drums height­en his auto­bi­o­graph­ic­al account.  Stream ‘JOHAN­NES­BORO’ and con­nect with Shame­less Plug and Spha­beats below.
