BET HIP-HOP AWARDS 2023 CONTINUES CELEBRATION OF 50 YEARS OF HIP HOP WITH EXCLUSIVE UK CYPHER CURATED BY DJ KENNY ALLSTAR AND GHETTS

ach year, the BET Hip Hop Awards uses the ceremony’s plat­form to show­case sev­er­al cyphers. Today, BET UK premi­eres the 2023 Hip Hop Awards UK cypher digit­ally on the BET Inter­na­tion­al You­Tube chan­nel. The cypher will also air Fri­day 13th Octo­ber dur­ing the 2023 Hip Hop Awards on MTV UK at 10pm and be avail­able to stream on My5.

In cel­eb­ra­tion of 50 years of Hip Hop, this year’s UK cypher has been cur­ated by the renowned DJ Kenny All­star & rap legend Ghetts. Ghetts is also head­lining the cypher along­side a cohort of the most excit­ing next gen­er­a­tion UK rap­pers; Shakes, Villz, Jordy, Proph and Deyah. This year’s UK cypher track is pro­duced by Ten­Bil­lion Dreams, an Essex based pro­du­cer who has worked with vari­ous UK rap­pers and is the music­al mas­ter­mind behind Ghetts and Skepta’s ‘IC3’.

The BET UK cypher has been pro­duced by Untold Stu­di­os for BET UK and dir­ec­ted by Meeks & Frost, a dynam­ic dir­ect­or duo who have extens­ive exper­i­ence in cre­at­ive dir­ec­tion with a love for storytelling and con­cep­tu­al ideal­isa­tion across music, fashion.

Com­ment­ing on this year’s Cypher, DJ Kenny All­star said: “I was truly hon­oured to be asked by BET to not only host this year’s Cypher, but to cur­ate along­side one of my all-time favour­ite MC’s, ‘Ghetts’. I felt like it was only right to use this oppor­tun­ity in line with the 50th Year anniversary to ush­er through some of the draft picks that I think will be light­ing up the game with­in the near future. UK Rap has had massive suc­cess over the last few years, and I really believe this year’s Cypher will show­case some of the excit­ing poten­tial that’s com­ing up next.”

Hos­ted by GRAMMY®-nominated record­ing artist, act­or, entre­pren­eur, and media per­son­al­ity Fat Joe, the BET Hip Hop Awards annu­al show will air on MTV UK and My5 on Fri­day 13th Octo­ber. A BTS of the cypher will be also avail­able to watch on the BET Inter­na­tion­al You­Tube chan­nel on Fri­day 13th October.
