NEW MUSIC | ICEKREAM DROPS NEW SINGLE “REAL RAP” FEATURING PRAYAH

Pro­du­cer of the moment icekream has announced the release of his latest single, “Real Rap”. A col­lab­or­a­tion with NYC-based rap­per Prayah, the track is the third in a series of heated single releases that began in Janu­ary with “What it Be”.

“Real Rap” is undoubtedly icekream’s most gritty and raw release to date, as the pro­du­cer subtly shapes his sound to suit the vocal styl­ings of Prayah. Rep­res­ent­ing East Brook­lyn, the rapper’s gut­tur­al tones and brute-force flows recall legendary MCs such as Big­gie Smalls, Shine and MF Doom, while his thought­ful lyr­i­cism places him in a league of his own.

icekream and Prayah linked up through social media, as the pro­du­cer sent through beats for the rap­per to spit over in the stu­dio. The res­ult is “Real Rap”, a potent example of the sparks that can fly when next-level pro­duc­tion meets authen­t­ic tal­ent on the mic. icekream’s men­acing beat provides the per­fect foil for Prayah’s rhymes, as minor-key vocal samples, skit­ter­ing hi-hats and weighty sub bass come togeth­er to cre­ate a vibe that’s dark, moody and unmis­tak­ably real. There’s no doubt that with “Real Rap”, icekream and Prayah achieve their prom­ise of bring­ing “it back to that real rap.”

icekream is an inter­na­tion­ally recog­nised pro­du­cer, musi­cian and label head. Born and raised in Par­is, France, he drew influ­ence from the loc­al music scenes while look­ing fur­ther afield for for inspir­a­tions that shaped his sound. Artists and pro­du­cers as diverse as Fat­boy Slim, Jamiroquai, DJ Premi­er and The Nep­tunes com­pelled him to envi­sion a dis­tinct music­al per­son­al­ity and a sound of his own. 

Prayah is one of America’s finest con­tem­por­ary rap­pers. Push­ing through struggles since birth, he spent his child­hood immersed in the world of Jay‑Z, Lord Fin­esse and Big­gie, until he recog­nised his own tal­ents and began work­ing with Ron Browz, a former Nas col­lab­or­at­or who worked with Prayah to devel­op his sound. After an Ins­tagram free­style drew the atten­tion of none oth­er than Busta Rhymes, Prayah was signed to the legendary hip-hop artist’s label and gained nation­wide recog­ni­tion through the Ron Browz-pro­duced single “Bad Man Ting” and a series of explos­ive remixes. Prayah is cur­rently work­ing toward the release of his debut EP. 

icekream’s latest track is the third single to be released on Kream King­dom, a record label headed up by the man him­self. “Real Rap” is the third in a string of col­lab­or­at­ive singles released through­out early 2021, fol­low­ing “What it Be” and “Run­ners Pace”.
