NEW MUSIC | OTIS MENSAH NEW SINGLE AND ORIGINAL ANIMATION FOR ‘INTERNET CAFE’

Acclaimed Hip-Hop artist and poet Otis Mensah announces his new single Inter­net Café. Inspired by Web Junkie, a 2013 doc­u­ment­ary about an inter­net gam­ing addic­tion rehab­il­it­a­tion centre in China, Inter­net Café is set against a back­drop of mel­low and min­im­al­ist instru­ment­a­tion pro­duced by Eli­jah Bane. Using nar­rat­ive poetry to cri­tique the patho­logy of young people dis­con­nec­ted from soci­ety, Otis explores excess­ive inter­net use and social exhaustion.

Hail­ing from Shef­field, Otis Mensah com­bines vivid storytelling with atmo­spher­ic and exper­i­ment­al Hip-Hop sounds. Titled Sheffield’s first poet laur­eate in 2018, Otis has worked and toured with heavy­weights such as Ben­jamin Zephaniah, KOTA the Friend, Open Mike Eagle, Mahalia and Blu & Exile. Otis has also received sup­port from The Guard­i­an, Earmilk, I Am Hip Hop Magazine, The Voice, BBC Intro­du­cing and The Noise Gate.

Inter­net Cafe is the second epis­ode of #Otis­Mensa­hEx­ists, a wider audio and visu­al pro­ject that sees Otis release a new song with anim­a­tion art every three weeks, out on Tues­day 16 June across all stream­ing platforms.
