Hailing from the Bronx but based in LA, ExXxoticc writes and records music that she describes as “the killer of the elephant in the room” – big, bold and boundary-breaking, her tracks brim with vitality and aggression.
Opening her latest single with a plea to God, ExXxoticc captures her struggles in sound with a dark and dirty banger that stands out as one of 2019’s heaviest releases. Built on a snarling trap beat and a menacing piano riff that backs up her potent lyricism, ‘Die’ is living proof that ExXxoticc smacks harder than anyone else in the rap game. Delivering ice-cold bars effortlessly on every verse, she builds anticipation for a chorus that offers up a message of strength and survival for everyone to hear: “you tryin’ to kill me, I’ll never die.”
“I wrote this song for everyone to know that it’s okay to freak out, that’s part of the process of becoming stronger.”
It’s not something she often shares, but there’s one fact about ExXxoticc that speaks volumes about her inspiration: her godfather is none other than Tupac Shakur. Friends with her mother, the legendary rapper died on the same day she was born. She’s since been deeply influenced by his music, seeing him as not just an inspirational figure but a creative idol, honouring his legacy with her music. You can hear Tupac’s honest, authenticity and devotion to his craft in every one of her tracks, as she releases her deepest feelings and emotions with every rhyme.
“My music-making process is always fun: that’s where me and the beat collide and become one. When I write I unleash myself in the rawest way possible.”
