After the suc­cess of his sum­mer party anthem “Out­side,” 23-year-old rising rap­per IZ drops his latest single “Walk It” ahead of his debut mix­tape A Step Up, set for release on RCA Records on August 23rd.

“Walk It” is a test­a­ment to IZ’s love for hip hop and street dance films, seam­lessly fit­ting into that cine­mat­ic world. The track is a feel-good hip-hop anthem with an infec­tious beat and lyr­ics primed to spark a new dance craze. With each release, IZ con­tin­ues to prove his knack for cre­at­ing cap­tiv­at­ing bangers that show­case his slick bars and unique style. His abil­ity to blend nos­tal­gia with con­tem­por­ary flair marks him as a standout tal­ent in the UK rap scene.

Speak­ing about the single, IZ shared, “Walk It was cre­ated to bring back that old-school hip hop vibe. I wanted a hook that inspires people to dance, wheth­er they’re walk­ing down the street, head­ing to work, or just chilling at home. This track is all about mak­ing people move, bop, and walk it out to the rhythm.”

Earli­er this year, IZ dropped the single “Big Dreams,” which has racked up over 2.5 mil­lion streams on Spo­ti­fy alone. The track set the tone for his future work, and now, “Walk It” con­tin­ues to build momentum as we anti­cip­ate his debut mix­tape. A Step Up will fea­ture 10 tracks that show­case IZ’s sig­na­ture flow and affin­ity for old-school hip hop beats, solid­i­fy­ing his place as a new force in UK rap.

Hail­ing from the out­skirts of Lon­don, IZ, a mem­ber of the CG Col­lect­ive (Con­stant Grind), star­ted his music­al jour­ney in school, hon­ing his craft over instru­ment­als and beats while mas­ter­ing record­ing tech­niques. Since 2015, he’s been stead­ily build­ing his cata­log on Sound­Cloud and YouTube.

His track “Big Dreams” revolves around the relent­less pur­suit of goals des­pite adversity. The song sparked a vir­al dance trend on Tik­Tok, ini­ti­ated by UK cre­at­or @KN and later amp­li­fied by BTS’s Jun­gkook, whose rendi­tion has amassed over 47 mil­lion views on his Tik­Tok. The trend con­tin­ues to gain trac­tion, with over 150 mil­lion views on the platform.

As he pre­pares to drop A Step Up, IZ is undoubtedly an artist to watch, com­bin­ing fresh energy with a deep respect for hip hop’s roots.
