‘Thick Skin’ is a com­ing of age piece that details dif­fer­ent jour­neys exper­i­enced by young people in the UK; high­light­ing life’s chal­lenges and adversity. This track has an earn­est feel, as each emcee (Lucas, St.Jude & IF‑E) wears their heart on their sleeve, deliv­er­ing rap­id, double-time bars brim­ming with per­son­al insight on relat­able sub­ject mat­ters such as loss, poverty and every­day struggles.

This com­bined with the catchy and unique singing tal­ent of Full­marx, gives ‘Thick Skin’ an optim­ist­ic and dis­tinct­ively Brit­ish fla­vour. Fur­ther­more, the looped acous­tic gui­tar and rolling per­cus­sion of the beat adds a new dimen­sion to under­ground grime music; demon­strat­ing IF‑E’s seam­less abil­ity to tran­scend genres in his pro­duc­tion.
