End of the Weak, an international MC Challenge founded in the USA in the year 2000, found its way to Belgium in 2014. Since then, Belgium has been looking for “the best” MC in the country, aiming to crown a Belgian champion every year to represent at the EOW World Finals.

The pandemic of 2020 had a serious impact, meaning little to no live events…and no End of the Weak! Rather than letting the time be wasted, the EOW Belgium crew chose to work on a compilation album. Together with DJ Grazzhoppa, DJ Proceed — the main organiser of End of the Weak Belgium — went to work to collect MCs from the past editions of EOW Belgium’s MC Challenges and get them all on 1 record. With so many MCs entering the competition over the years, it was decided to only invite EOW Belgium Champions and finalists. The project was recorded in 1 day; not everyone approached could attend, but 11 of the finest Belgian MC’s made it to the studio.

The final lineup contained 6 Flemish, 2 Walloon, 2 Brussels and 1 American/Belgian MC who all laid down rhymes on this “rap” compilation. In DJ Proceed’s own words “On this record we bring out the ‘MC’; the rawness of the corona era is the theme, boom bap are the beats”.

All the beats are produced by Grazzhoppa & Proceed but Grazzhoppa (a Belgian legend in his own right) is the producer, Proceed is the consultant. Together they spent hours in the studio completing this project, refining it down to the last detail.

The record has been available to stream everywhere since 29/12/2023, but it is also available on vinyl. The vinyl contains a bonus track that cannot be heard on the online album, namely the “World Final Cypher”. This cypher was recorded during the 2019 EOW World Final that EOW Belgium hosted in Brussels. The 8 nations that participated in this world championship are represented on this cypher.
