Grenfell Tower’s Burning is the unrelenting new music video from Latimer/Ladbroke Grove rappers El Niño & CX4. Both artists saw the horrific Grenfell tragedy unfold and this is their furious response. This anthemic track is the UK’s first conscious drill tune. Directed by filmmaker Marlon Rouse Tavares, the video opens with the words of local controversialist Ishmahil Blagrove who states ‘this community is hurting, we’re in pain, we’re angry, we’re frustrated… the young lions I know out there are hungry and young lions can’t eat grass, young lions eat meat and they want meat…’.
The video sees them in front of the tower, surrounded by locals and placards. In scenes that evoke Public Enemies’ ‘Fight the Power’ they also perform on the steps of Kensington & Chelsea’s town hall, telling the council that ‘we ain’t ever gonna back down’!
