NEW MUSIC: El Niño X Cx4 — GRENFELL TOWERS BURNING

Gren­fell Tower’s Burn­ing is the unre­lent­ing new music video from Latimer/Ladbroke Grove rap­pers El Niño & CX4. Both artists saw the hor­rif­ic Gren­fell tragedy unfold and this is their furi­ous response. This anthem­ic track is the UK’s first con­scious drill tune. Dir­ec­ted by film­maker Mar­lon Rouse Tav­ares, the video opens with the words of loc­al con­tro­ver­sial­ist Ishmahil Blagrove who states ‘this com­munity is hurt­ing, we’re in pain, we’re angry, we’re frus­trated… the young lions I know out there are hungry and young lions can’t eat grass, young lions eat meat and they want meat…’.

The video sees them in front of the tower, sur­roun­ded by loc­als and plac­ards. In scenes that evoke Pub­lic Enemies’ ‘Fight the Power’ they also per­form on the steps of Kens­ing­ton & Chelsea’s town hall, telling the coun­cil that ‘we ain’t ever gonna back down’!
