Interview: DMC OF RUN DMC (@THEKINGDMC)

I sat down with the King him­self DMC of Run DMC in his Lon­don hotel after his book sign­ing event at For­bid­den Plan­et earli­er that day. We had been talk­ing for over two years about doing an inter­view, so when he finally made it to the UK, I made sure it happened. We star­ted off talk­ing about his very early memor­ies in the mid to late 70s New York, about the early crews he was inspired by grow­ing up, such as the Crash Crew & the Cold Crush Broth­ers. We then went on to speak about his early Run DMC days and stor­ies behind some of their best known tracks. Also his solo career and his latest pro­ject in which he was kind enough to give me a pre­view off-air, and I must add, it’s an incred­ible album! After three hours, of which two hours we man­aged to record we fin­ished. He signed my super­stars, ordered his cake and went back to his room. DMC had said to me that he had been look­ing for­ward to this inter­view, and that it was great­er than he had expec­ted, truly hum­bling words.. Dan H – @ClassicHip_Hop
