Combining a true love for all things Funk & Soul, this special Weekender returns for 2019 at a brand new home on Brighton Beach.
With its roots firmly placed in Big Brass sounds, Hip hop beats, Future Soul, Tropical, Afro-beat, World, Disco, House, and everything in-between, this is set to be the perfect weekend, blending good times with unmissable talent across 3 days.
Following two sold out years, The Soundcrash Funk & Soul Weekender 2019 marks the beginning of the festival’s expansion, moving to a brand new location on the iconic Brighton Beach, UK.
The festival makes its first line up announcement today including Kamasi Washington, dubbed ‘he figurehead of the jazz revival’ by the Guardian, electronic duo Maribou State (DJ Set), the classic sounds of Alice Russell, and Lee Fields & The Expressions, along with the genre-defining talents of Norman Jay MBE, and Gilles Peterson. Add to this a curated blend of fresh acts with Yazmin Lacey and Romare plus outstanding talents Hackney Colliery Band and The Pharcyde.
With many more acts yet to be announced, the full line up will boast a range of artists spanning the full spectrum of the funk and soul genres, appealing to both dedicated fans and curious newcomers.
In addition to the musical line up, the festival offers an extensive, jam-packed timetable of extra activities including record fairs, film screenings and explorative talks; as well aswellness & soul meditation, dance classes and the original disco yoga experience. All this can be found alongside secret parties, cabaret, and the best in soul food and craft beer.
This event on the festival calendar is an intimate affair, created for an audience that truly loves its music.
