London-based emerging singer/rapper Skaiwater debuts his first full-length mixtape “Happy Hour” today alongside a music video for single “Emani” available on all streaming platforms via Cinematic Music Group. The mixtape is a year and a half in the making and inspired by acid trips, anti-depressants, and dissociation from reality. “As the pandemic came, I more and more felt the need to just make a project that distracts from all of the shit going on,” states Skaiwater.
Skaiwater recently debuted the first single off the project, Work! feat Lil Keed, dropped a virtual performance video for Thrift Shop last week via Youtube, and calls Lil Nas X, a close friend, and collaborator. For the next single, Emani, Skaiwater picked a director from his hometown to create a more personal/intimate video relating to the song lyrics. Skaiwater will also release 11 art pieces and a total of 22 NFTs starting this Friday. Dropping one piece/day, these pieces will be available for auction and exclusive sales on WAX and Treasureland. Check them out HERE.
“The video felt like a break from all the flashy and more intricate concepts my team and I had created for the other singles we had put out last year.” The single is about his relationship with a girl who he knew in 2020. “A promise some people make when they come up is to bring up the people around you, but sometimes a person isn’t cut to receive whatever help you’re willing to give them.”
Check out the new 11 song mixtape and follow Skaiwater for more news on upcoming music and his virtual performances that will drop later this month from the project.
