The mys­ter­i­ous Lon­don rap­per UKN­WN deliv­ers his second offer­ing of 2019 with ‘Gran­ules’. Call­ing upon the fast-rising under­ground rap­per Peter Xan, and the track is a trop­ic­al trap banger. 

Fol­low­ing on from his most recen EP ‘Snow Beach’ as well as impress­ive single ‘Lost’ fea­tur­ing House of Pharaoh’s own BlazeYL, UKN­WN con­tin­ues his dark and mys­ter­i­ous rise through the under­ground scene with the bar already being set very high for this emer­ging artist. Work­ing with a wide range of tal­en­ted pro­du­cers includ­ing the likes of Jam­ie K9, OBR, Chucks and more, this enig­mat­ic artist is craft­ing is own unique sound, filled with catchy hooks and mem­or­able melodies. 

In this new track ‘Gran­ules’, UKN­WN con­tin­ues this steady tra­ject­ory towards being one of London’s most hyped new­comers. With Krish behind the lens and the return of one of the UK’s rap­idly rising pro­du­cers, Hon­ey­wood­six on the beat along­side tal­en­ted pro­du­cer Chucks, the song is a mod­ern trap banger with stark, black and white visu­als to accom­pany it. Peter Xan, a fel­low new­comer to the scene, is only a nat­ur­al fea­ture — their two’s sounds melt per­fectly togeth­er, both inject­ing upbeat melod­ies and ener­get­ic pro­duc­tion into their work. 

UKNWN’s impec­cable artist­ic dir­ec­tion sets him aside from oth­ers in the game right now and as someone who is ‘heard not seen’, his sig­na­ture balaclava is a trib­ute to all the mis­fits and out­casts of the world. He states “I don’t enjoy being centre of atten­tion. Genu­inely someone who doesn’t fit in, I’m an outcast”. 

With ‘Lost’ and now ‘Gran­ules’ being a remark­able intro­duc­tion to 2019; his wavey imagery and mys­ter­i­ous per­sona is sure to keep every­one excited and with his unique sound already show­ing early signs of mak­ing a pro­found stamp on the scene, suc­cess is inev­it­able for this aspir­ing artist.
