Residence Music hip-hop artist Joshua Luke Smith has partnered with non-profit organization The Naked Truth Project and independent music label Orphan No More to create a powerful spoken-word video about the negative impact of pornography.
A lyricist from the UK, Smith is known for his brilliantly crafted raps, music, and other poetic projects, all of which voice strong commentary on societal issues. The Naked Truth Project, a non-profit that provides resources for people struggling with pornography, reached out to Smith about collaborating. Together they worked on the Dump Porn initiative, an online support system for those fighting porn addiction.
The video showcases Smith’s ability to connect with others not just through well-crafted verses, but through captivating storytelling and steadfast vulnerability. He brought this same compassion to a Tedx Talk in Bristol last fall, using spoken-work to expolore some of the most important and challenging cultural dilemmas facing of our generation.
Smith’s EP Dead Man released Feb. 16, featuring five tracks embodying his mission to speak into the chaos. He is preparing for tours in both the UK and the US in the upcoming months.
