REVIEW | APEX ZERO RELEASES NEW SINGLE AND VIDEO ‘YOU (ON LOVE)’

‘You (On Love)’ is a powerful new release by Apex Zero, showcasing his ongoing project, ‘Drummer Warrior Storyteller’. Produced by UK Hip Hop legend Micall Parknsun, the track is a heartfelt expression of love and gratitude to Apex’s family, ancestors, and all he holds dear. The multidimensional lyrics can be interpreted in many ways, offering audiences a unique and personal connection to the message of the song.

But the creativity doesn’t stop with the music. Apex collaborated with visionary artists to create a film, photographs, and a metal sculpture that capture and expand the message of the track. The resulting sculpture, ‘Harvest Rebellion’, is a stunning work of art inspired by the cutlass, a symbol of the subjugation and liberation of African Caribbean people. The film beautifully captures the forging process and showcases the exquisite jewellery worn by Apex and his wife, created by the talented Lucie Gledhill.

‘Drummer Warrior Storyteller (Part Two)’ will be released on May 19th 2023, along with more exhibitions, screenings, and live performances. The EP features two other tracks, ‘Seventh Dimension (On Perspective)’ and ‘Live Life (On Livity)’, both produced by Micall Parknsun and featuring talented musicians and performers. The film was made with visionary filmmakers and features footage from around the world, making it an exciting and culturally rich experience.

Overall, ‘You (On Love)’ is a fantastic release and a testament to Apex’s talent and creativity. The collaboration with other artists and the expansion into other art forms, such as film and sculpture, adds depth and dimension to the project, making it an immersive and inspiring experience for all who engage with it.
