NEW MUSIC | SOUTH LONDON BASED PRODUCER YK RELEASES EP ‘DISCONNECTED’

YKDisconnected is the latest EP to come out of South London, brought to us by producer and artist YK. The 5 track collection will become available from the 8th March 2019.

Disconnected is a group of tracks that illustrate how we must overcome the these times of darkness and push through to find the light. The title symbolises the warfare we experience on a daily basis with the battle between physical and mental wellbeing.

YK speaks truth about the struggles he faced with being a man of colour growing up in the south of London, feeling held back by his own shadow he channeled his energy into music to showcase his ambition and determination.

YK’s sound blends clever lyrics with a set of melodic and synthetic beats. Each track on the EP brings a slightly different element, starting off with the instrumentals in Live Forever to the heavier, faster paced vibrations of If Only and Big Dream. The third track ‘Lost’ is one that stands out on the record, starting off with dreamlike notes that progress into Hip Hop pulses. Lost is a large scale analogy of his awakening and shift of consciousness within his own belief system. To accompany this track, YK is working with talented animators to bring his visuals to life, set to be released in the near future.

YK is set to release his EP Disconnected is available on all major digital platforms.
