Imperfect Art(IST) is the latest album to come from one of Londons rising urban talents, Showtime Shegz. The album will drop to all major digital platforms on the 5th April 2019.
Imperfect Art(IST) compiles a huge 19 tracks, each of which embody a different part of Showtime Shegz. The track-list includes a truly eclectic mix as it showcases the quirky raps of ‘Catfish’ and ‘Wham Wham’ paired with his single ‘God Flexn’ and ending with the longer, exposed vocal of ‘Dear Group Chat’. Combining vibrant beats with his unique rap style, this album manages to represent Londons’ urban scene whilst including tracks that explore sounds from far beyond, including his Nigerian roots.
Showtime Shegz hails originally from Lagos, Nigeria but spent most of his life growing up in South East London. Throughout his childhood he was drawn to music, whether that be tapping beats into a steel drum or freestyling on the bus home.
Since then, Showtime Shegz has perfected his sound into a unique blend between Hip Hop and Experimental Rhythm and Blues. Not bound by the barriers of genre, Showtime Shegz writes lyrics spontaneously, with no forced construction. Instead, he channels all his energy, both positive and negative, into songwriting in order to push out his deepest, most retable material.
Despite his clear originality, Showtime Shegz has been heavily inspired by a range of artists including the likes of Biggie, Pharrell Williams, Kanye West, Calvin Harris and Ella Fitzgerald. With the release of this album, he hopes to reach bigger audiences than ever before.
Imperfect Art(IST) Is out now on all major digital platforms.
