NEW MUSIC | DUTCH RAPPER RAVY RELEASES ‘U DON’T KNOW’

ravyInternational rapper, singer and songwriter Ravy today announces the release of her new single U Don’t Know. Produced by Shafique Roman, U Don’t Know is a broody but super-melodic track about moving on from a failed relationship.

Born in The Netherlands and of Surinamese heritage, Ravy (born Rachel Manniesing) is an upcoming artist who effortlessly blends hip-hop, pop, R&B, EDM with a unique mixture of Indian and Surinamese sounds. Ravy started her musical journey as a teenager and quickly started turning heads with her tireless work ethic and creativity.

Originally learning English from listening to old school hip-hop and citing Missy Elliot and Chris Brown as influences, Ravy initially focused on making a name for herself domestically, before quickly adopting a global outlook.

Since then, Ravy has made huge strides in her career. She linked up with hit European producer Shafique Roman who produced several tracks on Dutch rapper Frenna’s Francis album, which propelled to the top of the Dutch Album Top 100. She has also worked with Rock City (writing credits include: Rihanna’s Pour It Up; Miley Cyrus’ We Can’t Stop; and Nicki Minaj’s Only). Ravy has additionally worked with notable producer Needlz, who produced Bruno Mars’ Just the Way You Are.

U Don’t Know successfully brings together a melody that demands to be sung along to with a dark honest energy backed up by bass-heavy production. It’s a satisfyingly downbeat catchy blend of atmospheric R&B with a forceful rap.

U Don’t Know is out January 2nd on all digital platforms.

BIOGRAPHY:

Ravy calls The Netherlands her home, but her music is bigger than that. Ravy is a rapper, singer, songwriter and dancer who combines rap, with pop, EDM, R&B blending it with traditional Indian and Surinamese music, and other genres. Ravy writes all her music and works closely with her producer Shafique Roman to make dynamic tracks that leave a lasting mark on the music world.

Ravy hails from The Hague but has South American roots. Born Rachel Manniesing, Ravy fell in love with rap as a child, learning to speak English fluently by listening to old school hip hop, cartoons and video games.

A trained dancer with an incredible work ethic, Ravy has featured on tracks and worked with several notable artists and producers. She recorded with hit songwriter Rock City, who wrote Rihanna’s “Pour It Up”; Miley Cyrus’ “We Can’t Stop” and Nicki Minaj’s “Only”. She’s also worked with notable producer Needlz, who produced Bruno Mars’ “Just the Way You Are” and Cardi B ft. Kehlani’s “Ring”.

Inspired by Missy Elliot and Chris Brown, Ravy brings impeccable dance choreography to her music videos and performances, daring to showcase a huge kinetic energy in everything she does.
