Dekay’s latest album ‘Life’s A Beach’ is out now. This is the reigning EOW England champion’s twelfth independently released album, and, she says, 12 has always been her lucky number.
All tracks were written and recorded in the 9 months she was expecting her second son and she literally finished uploading them several hours before he was born. All the tracks are produced, mixed and mastered by her sons father and her eldest son features on ‘Treasure’. Her brother Anon Music also has a feature verse on title track ‘Life’s A Beach’, so it’s very much a family project.
This album is also dedicated to two key family members. Dekay’s stepfather Ranajit Paul Choudhury, a dedicated father, husband and grandad who passed away a few weeks before his second grandson was born. In Dekay’s own words, “It’s been a time of mixed emotions for our family. My mum, brothers and I will never forget you…memories never die”.
The album is also dedicated to Dekay’s father, who passed away a few days before the albums release. Dekay wrote “Seni seviyorum Baba. I hope to see you on the other side, when time has no hold on us, we are young again and all is forgiven.” When reflecting on recent times, Dekay says that “Life is short, so enjoy it people. If there’s one thing I’ve really been reminded of lately, it’s that. To everyone I’ve loved and lost; on behalf of everyone who love you still, we will always keep you in our hearts.”
