New York born rapper and producer PROFYT releases his first single from his upcoming debut EP. Drawing from the dark side of hip hop and trap, ‘Mayor of New York’ articulates the degradation of the city of New York, particularly in response to recent allegations of misconduct by several state leaders. PROFYT brings influences from the classic New York jazz sounds and combines that with 90s hip hop and current hip hop trends. The dark nature of the lyrics and instrumental is symbolic of the decadent city and the power exerted by men in suits.

Based in New York’s Manhattan, PROFYT truly incorporates his city into his sound, drawing his influence from the local rich musical history and taking his inspiration from the streets, but also from Notorious B.I.G and Nas. Working completely as a solo artist, writing and producing the music himself, this upcoming project debut offers an insight into the artist’s multifaceted persona and work. Mastered by Chris Gehringer (Rihanna, Nas, Cardi B), ‘Mayor of New York’ is the debut single from the EP, set for release later this year, and is now available on all major streaming platforms.
