Event: Blatantly Blunt Showcase With Micall Parknsun, Taz and more at Portobello Live!

It’s back! For the third year run­ning, Por­to­bello Live! returns to West Lon­don with its win­ning for­mula of music, spoken word, per­form­ance and art, held over the May Day bank hol­i­day in asso­ci­ation with dance label Wall Of Sound and Rough Trade records. This year’s fest­iv­al also takes a ret­ro­spect­ive look at Rock Against Racism, a move­ment which sprang into life 40 years ago.

The Blatantly Blunt show­case on April 30 will fea­ture estab­lished and emer­ging rap­pers hail­ing from not just UK, but Zim­b­ab­we, Canada and Argentina.

Head­liners on the day will be widely revered emcee and pro­du­cer Mic­all Parkn­sun, Taz, whose sem­in­al debut album in 2004 was signed to Def Jam UK and laid the ground­work for today’s sound, and Potent Whis­per the Brix­ton act­iv­ist, spoken word and grime artist who brings his sub­vers­ive mes­sage via the power of the grime sound.

On top of that there will be a live graf­fiti jam and a whole host of hip hop and grime tal­ent from 4–8.15pm.

£10 on the door for this event or just £20 for the whole festival!
