NEW MUSIC| THE SCRIBES (@TheScribes ) ARE BACK WITH “QUILL EQUIPPED VILLAINY”,

SCRIBES

South West based hip hop heroes The Scribes are back with “Quill Equipped Villainy”, a 13 track album available on CD, Spotify, iTunes and all good online retailers from Saturday the 13th of July!

Amidst almost two years of heavy touring that has seen the group become recognised from Ibiza to Glastonbury Festival as one of the most entertaining and engaging live acts on the scene today, The Scribes have written and recorded their first full length LP since 2015’s seminal “A Story All About How”.

“Quill Equipped Villainy” pays homage to the group’s Golden Age hip hop roots with boom-bap beats, biting bars and bubbling bass all effortlessly intertwined with a thoroughly modern take on the genre and delivered with the The Scribes’ trademark wit and style.

Featuring production from up and coming talents Dave Taylor and Fat Controllers alongside established beatsmiths Astro Snare, Vice Beats and Ill Literate, the 13 tracks cover a variety of styles and moods, from full on headnodders and dusty jazz breaks to filthy bass bangers and distortion-filled dirtiness, all while staying true to the hip hop sensibilities that underpin all of The Scribes’ work.

This extraordinary range of production provides the perfect soundscape for an expansive release that includes classic rap floor fillers and block party rockers alongside more reflective moments dealing with alcoholism, addiction and self-worth.

The lyrics remain fresh throughout with guest spots from Akil the MC from the legendary Jurassic 5, Leon Rhymes from Too Many Ts, Bodega Brovaz, TrueMendous, Blacksmith and Goose making “Quill Equipped Villainy” a truly international affair, with each vocalist bringing their own unique flair to proceedings.

Three years in the making, The Scribes have managed to pack all of the energy, vibrancy and atmosphere of their award winning live show into 13 tracks of unadulterated hip hop heaviness, and with lead single “Righteous” already having been named BBC Introducing DC “Upload of the week” and Some Kind Of Awesome’s “Track of the day”, this is one release that simply cannot be missed!
