NEW MUSIC | ST.BEDLAM SETS BOUNDARIES WITH NEW SINGLE “SHELL”

After a run of exceptional and critically acclaimed singles, St. Bedlam is back to set the record straight with a new single that sets clear boundaries “SHELL”.

As an empathetic person, St. Bedlam has often struggled with creating boundaries in the past, this single not only highlights her struggles but also how she’s been able to grow and overcome them.

As usual St.Bedlam effortlessly brings together her punchy rhymes, however this single differs from the others. Its craftily layered with harmonies and beefy bridge, showcasing her previous experience writing blues, jazz and singing in church choirs.

The concept of “SHELL” comes from an analogy the rapper uses to explain how she relates to her star sign of Cancer, the crab.

“Imagine you’re walking along the beach and pick up a hermit crab. The longer you poke, prod and shake him for, the longer he’ll stay curled up in his shelter. But if you gently hold him in the palm of your hand, eventually he’ll start to emerge and walk around comfortably. I see myself a lot like that. Don’t shake my shell or I’ll crawl further inside it. Be gentle with me and you’ll get to know the most outgoing, loving friend you’ll ever have,”

“I want people to take away from this song that boundaries is not a dirty word, and that you have every right to set healthy boundaries, and be confident, positive and happy with laying them down,”

The single was produced by South West Sydney producer HappyCamper and engineered by Espa.

As one of the Australia’s most dynamic, Queer and exhilarating rappers, St.Bedlam creates a path of her own. She continues to set the standard at stellar levels, “SHELL” brings to light how creative and vulnerable the rapper can be.

St.Bedlam has a refreshing interpretation of music laden with sauce-packed presence. Lyrical, emotive and oozing with quirkiness, the Sydney emcee is rapidly becoming recognised as one of the most unique artists Australia has to offer. Pairing insane lyrical ability with a devil-may-care demeanour, St.Bedlam takes listeners on a mind melding, mischievous journey of angst and imagination with every release. A natural performer, St.Bedlam is known to spit sparks with her electric performances, turning even the most sluggish crowd to a chanting, fist pumping, “living for the moment” machine.
