NEW MUSIC | NOTTINGHAM RAPPER M’WAY RETURNS WITH TRACK AND VISUALS TO NEW SUMMER SINGLE ‘WE DID’

M’Way releases the track and visuals to his latest single ‘We Did’ released through the No Request’s imprint via Polydor Records, and in 2 minutes and 25 seconds of pure lyricism, incomparable production and a catchy syncopated beat, the Nottingham rapper and songwriter shows us exactly why he’s an artist to watch, and one that’s on the rise for 2021.

With an effortless flow, and the undeniably UK rap sensibility of the track, ‘We Did’ has all the markings of a hit; delving into the harsh and honest realities of life on road, whilst simultaneously contrasted by the calm and alluring beat, M’Way details the juxtaposition that comes with “7am shifts”“trapping and banging”, then having to seek solace in God to ask for forgiveness. Speaking on the track the rapper stated:

“It was one of them where I got the beat and just went with the flow. [The track] was sent to me by a producer I work with – he’s produced a few songs for me before, so I was just going through them, came across that one and started freestyling to it. I wrote it and we wrapped it up in like 4 hours!”

The accompanying visuals to the track were creatively led by director Kirx Diaz (Mabel, Ramz, Nafe Smallz, Not3s, Kojo Funds) who is a prominent name in the UK music scene, and see’s the young rapper parading his ends in a fleet of luxury cars, all whilst surrounded by his boys and an array of gorgeous females. The visuals effortlessly transition between the dominating backdrop of the high-rise building and its menacing hallways, to the contrast of luxury and open surrounds, which illustrate the duality that comes with embracing M’Way’s newfound musical successes – and all that’s associated with it – whilst still showing love for where he came from.

Hailed as a member of Tiffany Calver’s Street Heat: Class of 2021, M’Way (as the final artist voted in by the public) sits alongside the likes of Meekz, Central Cee, M1llionz, Ardee, BackRoad Gee, Enny and many more, effortlessly taking over the UK rap scene and making a name for himself one track at a time. Following the success of his earlier releases ‘In The T’, ‘Take Orders’, and his 2020 breakout hit ‘Whole Lotta Guap’, M’Way has developed a strong and loyal following for an artist who is still in his prime.
