NEW MUSIC | LYRICIST HARRY SHOTTA DROPS NEW SINGLE ‘IT WASN’T EASY’

Legendary lyricist Harry Shotta has joined the roster of the influential High Focus Records, marking a significant return to his hip-hop roots with his latest single, “It Wasn’t Easy”. Dropping this Friday, January 17th, the track is the first in a wave of new music slated for release in 2025, showcasing Shotta’s profound connection to the genre that shaped him.

Set against a timeless, soulful production by Leaf Dog, “It Wasn’t Easy” offers a deeply personal and raw narrative as Shotta recounts the traumas of his early life and the resilience he found through hip-hop. The song is a powerful testimony to the healing and transformative power of music, as he poignantly declares:

“It’s crazy, hip hop is truly what made me the man that I am, no ifs, buts or maybes.”

Renowned as one of the UK’s most certified MCs, Harry Shotta holds a Guinness World Record for the most words in a song, has amassed millions of streams, and continues to headline stages worldwide. While celebrated for his versatility across genres like Jungle, Drum and Bass, and Bass music, his collaboration with High Focus Records signals a deliberate reconnection with his hip-hop foundation. This partnership brings to life a project Harry has envisioned for years.

This latest single sets the tone for Odyssey, his most ambitious album to date, coming soon via High Focus. Drawing inspiration from iconic artists like Big Pun, Nas, and Mobb Deep, Shotta revisits the genre that first ignited his passion, promising a deeply authentic and boundary-pushing body of work. With “It Wasn’t Easy,” Harry Shotta reaffirms his place as one of the UK’s most respected voices in rap while opening an exciting new chapter in his career.
