chiika, following her successful performance at JoyRuckus Club 3 (the world’s largest Asian artist festival), has teamed up with producer and fellow JoyRuckus Club producer P.Salm to release ‘Catalyst’, a cocky and self-empowering hip-hop track about not holding back and welcoming confrontation. Mixed and mastered by Asian-American duo Club Yokai, the hard-hitting song has been created by an all-Asian team.

chiika is hosting a Listening Party to promote the release via HotVox on May 13th, and performing at the Hoxton Underbelly, London, on May 27th. A natural performer despite having only started her journey as an independent artist during the pandemic, chiika is ready to take the stage by storm and has an impressive lineup of releases planned throughout the rest of the year.

Born in London and raised in Oxford, chiika is in her penultimate year of uni. chiika writes songs that reflect her experience growing up as a queer first-gen Indian immigrant and discuss surrounding relationships, aspirations, and self-reflections; her lyrics are honest and core-cutting in their finesse and simplicity. Her friends have described her music as ‘11pm on a Tuesday night’ and ‘sitting down with some whiskey and a good friend’. chiika is influenced by a variety of artists and genres, but her music could perhaps best be described as a mix of Mahalia and Kehlani, with a bit of OSHUN mixed in.
