The UK dancehall scene has a new voice cutting through the noise. With the release of HEARTBROKEN, Harlesden native 1Badd Inglish offers a powerful and personal chapter in a growing artistic journey. The track is more than a single. It is a statement of intent from an artist refusing to play by the rules.

Released independently through City to Country and Crownmusic, HEARTBROKEN blends vulnerability with undeniable style. “It’s all about growth and being true to yourself,” 1Badd Inglish says.

“Expressing your feelings and relating to many others by doing so. Life inspired me, as I’ve been through some things that could break your spirit and not just your heart.”

The track also serves as the soundtrack to The Change, a film directed by his father, filmmaker C a n I Brinks, in which 1Badd Inglish stars. The project is deeply personal, tying music and acting together through a shared narrative of transformation. “Again, it just came naturally,” he says.

That natural feel runs through all of his work. His sound, often described as raw, authentic, smooth and nostalgic, was never forced or calculated. “I just do it,” he explains. “I can’t tell you how, but it’s all natural. It comes easy.”

Raised in Harlesden, Northwest London, 1Badd Inglish carries a deep connection to the community that shaped him. “It definitely has influenced my whole life,” he says. “With a strong Jamaican heritage and vibrant energy.” That influence can be felt not only in his sound but also in the HEARTBROKEN visuals, which were shot on location in Jamaica. “That was the task at hand and it was very important. I travelled alone to get it done. That should tell you how important it was.”

His creative journey began early. At the age of eight, he was already writing poems, freestyling, and learning drums. That foundation keeps him grounded even now. “My life experiences,” he says when asked what fuels his creativity today.

1Badd Inglish’s ability to move between different creative lanes has brought him into collaboration with artists like Sylvia Tella, SWN Sounds and Shaker the Baker. “It’s more based on relationships and chemistry,” he says. “I believe I have a good ear for sound, so I go with that method or instructions from peers.”

For him, independence has been essential. Releasing HEARTBROKEN without a major label meant full creative control. “I do what I feel is right and have creative control to bring it to life,” he says.

That control also extends to his long-term goals. His vision is rooted in something deeper than fame. “MY LEGACY. My story,” he says when asked what kind of mark he hopes to leave.

With HEARTBROKEN already turning heads and more work on the way, fans can expect more surprises from the versatile artist. “Expect a lot,” he says. “I’m very versatile and I have a point to prove, which will be proven very soon.”

From the streets of Harlesden to the hills of Jamaica, 1Badd Inglish is building something personal, cinematic and lasting. HEARTBROKEN is not the peak. It is the introduction.
