The tour will celebrate the 30th Anniversary of hip hop trailblazers The Pharcyde’s globally celebrated second album ‘Labcabincalifornia’ and 32 years since Souls Of Mischief’s all time Hip hop classic album ’93 ‘Til Infinity’.
Originally from South Central Los Angeles, The Pharcyde formed in 1989 with original members Imani, Slimkid3, Fatlip and Bootie Brown. The group signed to Delicious Vinyl and achieved international success and recognition for their tracks ‘Passin’ Me By’, ‘Drop’, ‘Ya Mama’ and ‘Runnin’, as well as their first two albums, 1991 debut ‘Bizarre Ride II The Pharcyde’ and ‘Labcabincalifornia’ which was produced by J Dilla, with both albums a seminal staple of rap’s golden era. The group appeared on the Brand New Heavies rap collaboration album ‘Heavy Rhyme Experience vol.1’ out on Delicious Vinyl and toured with Tribe Called Quest and De La Soul. The Pharcyde released a further 2 albums ‘Plain Rap’ (2000) and ‘Humboldt Beginnings’ (2004). Booty Brown left the group, which continues to record collaboratively and solo. The Pharcyde released 4 track EP ‘Timeless’ earlier this year, released on RCA Records, with tracks featuring 1999 Write The Future and produced by Rick Rock and JPEGMafia. The group will tour the UK as a trio consisting of Imani, Slimkid3 and Fatlip.
Souls of Mischief are a Hip hop group from Oakland, California, the trio are also part of the rap collective Hieroglyphics. The Souls of Mischief was formed in 1991 by rappers A‑Plus, Phesto and Tajai. The trio released debut album ’93 ‘Til Infinity’ in 1993 on Jive Records to huge acclaim, with its all-time classic track of the same name. The album was hailed one of the Top 100 Rap Albums by The Source and “the best single album to come out of Oakland’s Hieroglyphics camp” and that Souls of Mischief “completely redefined the art of lyrical technique for the West Coast”. The group released 5 more albums, ‘No Man’s Land’ (1995), ‘Focus’ (1998), ‘Trilogy: Conflict, Climax, Resolution’ (2000), ‘Montezuma’s Revenge’ (2009) and ‘There Is Only Now’ (2014).
The Pharcyde said “We cannot wait to be passin’ by the UK again. We love our British fans, what a great vibe to celebrate 30 years of Labcabincalifornia in London, Manchester and Bristol. We’ll see you then!”
Souls Of Mischief said “This is how we chill from ’93 til now, back in the UK celebrating with y’all. It’s gonna be dope, good vibrations and so much inspiration.”
